Our Partnership

Proud Partners with PYLUSD & OC Parks

The REACH Foundation is proud to partner with PYLUSD, and OC Parks to sponsor the Middle School Cross Country Invitational (Nov. 12) and Cross Country Championship (Nov. 18)! These two premier programs promote physical health, mental well-being, and academic success throughout our region. Cross-country, like other endurance sports, builds character by fostering teamwork, leadership, and perseverance. Through our programs, students learn durable life skills including teamwork, goal-setting and time management while developing lifelong healthy habits, lasting camaraderie, and sportsmanship.

Physical Health

Building endurance, strength, and lifelong fitness habits through competitive cross-country.

Mental Well-Being

Developing resilience, focus, and confidence through the challenge of distance running.

Academic Success

Goal-setting and time management skills learned on the course translate directly to the classroom.

Creating Opportunities for All

Champions Equity in Athletics

Our Middle School Cross Country program champions equity by offering access to athletics for all students, regardless of their background or experience level. By engaging students through these athletic events, we strengthen social connections and instill school pride, preparing young athletes for future success both in and out of the classroom.

PYLUSD Teams participate without charge — thanks to your donations.

Amy Madrigal Middle School Cross Country Invitational

Wednesday, November 20th, 2024 — Yorba Regional Park

On Wednesday, November 20th, 2024, the tranquil paths of Yorba Regional Park came alive with the energy and determination of young athletes at the first-ever Amy Madrigal Middle School Cross Country Invitational, sponsored by the REACH Foundation. The event brought together students from eight middle schools, including Brea and Rancho Starbuck intermediate, showcasing their talent, teamwork, and school spirit.

Over 420 runners tackled the scenic 2-mile course, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd of families, friends, and educators. The day featured thrilling races in four categories: 8th-grade girls and boys followed by 6th/7th-grade girls and boys. Top honors went to runners whose resilience and speed earned medals for their outstanding placements, with the Top 20 in each race also taking home medals as a testament to their hard work.

"It's amazing to see the students' excitement before the race, their determination as they push themselves, and the connections formed as they cheer for one another. This Invitational is a shining example of how athletics bring a community together."

Remembering Mrs. Amy Madrigal

A video by EDHS Productions

"To know her is to truly love her. A perfect blend of positivity, wit, sarcasm, work ethic, and kindness, the sudden loss of Amy Madrigal on May 22, 2023 to a serious stroke is heartbreaking. She is remembered as a favorite teacher, caring coach, hard-working athletic director, unparalleled assistant principal, loving sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. But, her true legacy is the role she valued above all else — devoted mother to Mila and Oliver and step mother to Anthony alongside the love of her life, Rudy."
