First Lego League Explore Robotics

Promoting STEM Robotics Education for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Grade

About the Program

Proud to Partner with First Lego League Robotics

The REACH Foundation is proud to bring the FIRST® LEGO® League Explore Program to PYLUSD. Students in grades 2–4 (ages 6–10) will focus on the fundamentals of engineering as they explore real-world problems, learn to design and code, and create unique solutions made with LEGO® bricks and powered by LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential.

FIRST LEGO League Explore is one of three divisions by age group of the FIRST® LEGO® League program. This program inspires young people to experiment and grow their confidence, critical thinking, and design skills through hands-on learning.

FIRST LEGO League was created through an alliance between FIRST® and LEGO® Education.

Discover FLL Explore at Travis Ranch

Students will UNEARTH and investigate how people explore, protect, and learn from the world beneath our feet. Students build and program a LEGO® robot, work as a team to solve real-world problems, and create a model that shares what they discover about underground systems like fossils, excavation sites, and habitats.

What Students Learn in Explore

In Explore, students learn to design, code, and create solutions using LEGO® bricks and LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential. Students also explore real-world problems and conduct innovation projects, identifying a problem and designing a solution.

Build with LEGO® Bricks

Students design and construct physical models using LEGO® bricks to solve real-world engineering challenges.

Learn to Code

Using LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential, students are introduced to block-based programming and bring their creations to life.

Innovation Projects

Teams identify a real-world problem, research it, and design a creative solution — developing critical thinking from an early age.

Teamwork & Collaboration

Students work together as a team, learning to communicate, share ideas, and support one another throughout the season.

Confidence Building

Through hands-on experimentation and presenting their work, students grow their confidence and public speaking skills.

Real-World Exploration

Each season centers on a real-world theme — from underground ecosystems to ocean exploration — connecting STEM to everyday life.
