The REACH Foundation is excited to support the Care Closet at Esperanza and El Camino Real High School. When students feel good about themselves, they are more confident and able to achieve academic success.
Why the Care Closet?
Because we believe that when students feel good, they can achieve greatness. The Care Closet isn't just a collection of items; it's a supportive community on campus where every student matters. The Care Closet provides students with an inviting place on campus where they can attain items that will assist in making their daily life comfortable.

DownloadThe concept of the Care Closet was born out of a personal experience in 2020 with a high school freshman who did not have hygiene necessities or detergent, and on a daily basis felt uncomfortable with peers and adults.
Over the course of two years and with the assistance of district personnel, a school custodian, the Esperanza principal, and the high school activity director, the first Care Closet opened on the Esperanza High School Campus in October of 2022. It is a beautifully decorated and inviting space. Students in the engineering class built racks and shelves, the graphic design class created signage, and through the generosity of the community a comfortable chair, full length mirror, music and hanging plants were added.
How Does It Work?
Students visit the Care Closet on Wednesdays! No judgment, no questions — just a helping hand and a friendly face.
Here's How You Can Help:
Your generosity fuels our mission, and each item you select is sent directly to Esperanza Care Closet to support the students we serve.
In September, 2023, the second Care Closet opened at El Camino Real High School.

Your generosity fuels our mission, and each item you select is sent directly to the El Camino Real Closet to support the students we serve.
Our goal is to open Care Closets at each of the five high schools. The timetable will be based on our community's support, engagement from each campus, and the commitment from volunteers and community partners to ensure that is every site is fully operational.
